About Barbara and her ‘other’ project

Welcome to my Fyne Story Line web site.

These pages will be the behind the scenes look at my ‘other’ project, a murder mystery novel series.

While becoming an author was something that was never on my radar, it quickly developed and became a project I was determined to finish, even if it did take me almost two years to do the first book. The second book would end up taking even longer. The story was there, just getting it to ‘paper’ with my family, job, and my photography, was tough. But it is done, and my long-ago idea for a book series has been completed. I have tried to blend my love of photography, nature, and writing to create my first books.

I was born in Hampton, Virginia in 1964 and grew up on the shores and waters of the Chesapeake Bay. My family was always out on a boat fishing somewhere and it brings back many great memories from my childhood.  That is probably where I developed my love for the outdoors and specifically being around the water.  The birds, fish, wildlife, and the beauty of the bay just draws me in.

I currently live in the woods on a five acre spread in New Kent, Virginia with my husband of almost 30 years, my 20 year old son, my 26 year old daughter and her husband, and our four dogs.

My motto is “live to photograph and write, forced to work”, so I work full time in Accounting at a large paper mill, reaching my 34 year milestone there this year.

I am humbled to have had magazine covers and articles, calendars, been featured on websites, and published in the local papers as well as the Washington Post. I have won awards in a few photo contests, including two of my favorites: Scenic Virginia and Virginia Wildlife. I just retired from a five year term as president of the Colonial Nature Photography Club with close to 100 members, where I helped guide many fledgling photographers to improve their skills, both in classes and through my monthly club newsletter.

I got into photography about twenty years ago and it was my escape from reality. Well, it still is actually. I focus (no pun intended) on nature photography and am in my happy place when I am writing my next book or out in the wild with the birds and critters

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy your visit.
